Not released until next month, The Stage EP from the triple threat of  Curren$y, Smoke DZA,
and Harry Fraud can be pre-ordered from Amoeba now in advance of its June 7th release date.
The 26 minute 12" vinyl release features four vocal tracks on Side A and their
accompanying instrumental versions on the B-side.

At last night's dual 2019 DMC DJ battles, held at the Uptown in Oakland, the winner of the 2019 US Scratch Finals battle was DJ Prolifix from Los Angeles. Pictured left with his award (photo c/o Christie Zee), last night's DMC USA Scratch Champion title is in fact the second for the talented SoCal turntablist. Runners up in that battle included Lou Short and Don Don. Meanwhille in the 2019 DMC Bay Area DJ Battle, for which contestants can be from anywhere in the US, the winner was TyHandswell from Severn, MD. Runners up in that category were DJs LazyBoy and Dayvers. As noted by DJ Qbert, who was among the judges at last night's battle, there will be a sequel to his pioneering Wave Twisters movie.  Meanwhile fellow California turntable legend DJ Babu's (creator of the iconic battle/break record Super Duck Breaks) new seven inch  Super Duper Duck Flips Vol. 2  7" (Dilated Junkie Music) is among the top five hip-hop releases this week at Amoeba (scroll down to see all).

Bas-One, who was MC at the DMC, made an announcement about this September's 2019 Hiero Day; the Hieroglyphicscurated one day hip-hop festival held every Labor Day for several years. He said that this year's anticipated event, which was held at MLK and 3rd last year, would be held in the Coliseum parking lot. Meanwhile last week's scheduled Hieroglyphics show at the UC Theatre did not take place May 22nd but got postponed by several months. The new Hieroglyphics date at the Berkeley venue will be December 5th. Tix/info here.

As recently announced the Notorious B.I.G. will be honored next month when the late Brooklyn emcee legend will be honored by a street in his hometown named after him.  Located near the border of Bedford-Stuyvesant in BK, the street is the Fulton Street intersection at St. James Place.  Soon it will forever be known as Christopher Wallace Way. The rapper's surviving mother and two children will be among those in attendance at the June 10th ceremony. Note that the vinyl Notorious B.I.G. Greatest Hits 2LP set (pictured above) that was issued last August by Bad Boy is still available to order from Amoeba.

Amoeba vinyl pick of the week is Flying Lotus' Flamagra [Amoeba Exclusive Opaque White Vinyl] 2LP (Warp Records). The first new album from the producer in five years, the 27 track release includes such guest performers as Shabazz Palaces, Anderson .Paak and (soon to retire funk legend) George Clinton. LA super duo of emcee Blu and producer Exile are back together with their killer new vinyl release  True & Livin' 12" EP (Dirty Science) on which they are joined by some excellent guests on the standout track "Power To The People" that's also features Johaz, Aloe Blacc, Fashawn, Blame One and Choosey. The latter artist teamed up with Exile a couple of months for the excellent album Black Beans LP.  

Wordsworth and Pearl Gates have a brand new album Champion Sounds (Wordsworth Productions) that's produced by Quincy Tones. The ever prolific DJ Muggs joined forces with Mach Hommy for the new album Tuez-Les Tous (Soul Assassin Records). Long Island producer Planit Hank's new guest heavy 7 song release  Night Before Purgatory (Hardtimes Records) boasts such collaborators as Kool G Rap, DJ Evil Dee, Jeru The Damaji, Buckshot and AZ.  The top five new hip-hop arrivals at Amoeba follow below with links to mail-order from Amoeba.
