NEW VINYL #1: Future Future LP (A1/Freebandz/Epic)

As if he didn't garner enough attention over the past two days with his starring role along with Ed Sheeran in Taylor Swift's new viral video "End Game" (21 million views in first 48 hours) off her latest album reputation (also on 2LP colored vinyl), yesterday Future also released of his albums on vinyl. Both number one 2017 hits and each as 2LP pressings, they include Future's eponymous fifth album; Future LP with 20 tracks over four sides and clocking in at just under an hour and a quarter. The album,  originally released on Feb 17th 2017, features the singles "Draco", "Mask Off" and "Extra Luv." One of pop/rap's biggest stars today, the multi-talented Atlanta artist initially rose to fame via his membership of the Dungeon Family collective. Working with some of 2017's biggest names on this album that helped break a Billboard charts record, its production credits include Metro Boomin and DJ Khaled. Future fans, who are vinyl collectors, should note that several other releases by the artist are also available in LP pressing. These include Future's album DS2 LP, his album EVOL LP, the Future/Drake collaboration What A Time To Be Alive LP on Cash Money, and HNDRXX LP that was also released this week. NEW VINYL #2 Lil Uzi Vert Luv Is Rage 2 LP (also avail as CD) Generation Now/Atlantic)

This brand new vinyl version of the debut hit album by Lil Uzi Vert (as distinct from mixtape and EPs) Luv Is Rage 2 LP (also avail as CD) was originally released last August in download and streaming formats, and a few months later in physical CD and cassette versions. Now Luv Is Rage 2, which is the sequel to the artist’s 2015 breakout hit mixtape Luv Is Rage, is finally available on vinyl, and even better as a 2LP pressing that sports “bonus tracks.” These four bonus tracks appear on Side D of the two record set, that opens with the hit single “XO TOUR Llif3." Then come the four bonus tracks, “Skir Skirr," "Loaded," "Diamonds All on My Wrist," and "20 Min” - each of which similarly included on the Deluxe CD version of this album when it dropped back in November. Born Symere Woods the 23 year old Philly rap star’s new album was released via Atlantic by Generation Now Records which is the label owned by DJ Drama and DJ Cannon and to whom Uzi is signed. However the artist is apparently very unhappy with his deal and his label, as witnessed by Lil Uzi Vert and DJ Drama’s social media war of words yesterday on Twitter.

#3 Various Artists After Party (Ministry Of Sound)

Various artists compilation from the label known more for its electronic dance compilations delve into a broad mix of dance-y contemporary hip-hop: After Party (Ministry Of Sound). Mixed by DJ Colin Francis After Party packs 40 tracks onto its 2CDs. These include (to mention but a handful)  Calvin Harris’ “Feels (feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean),” Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” Future’s “Mask Off,” Travis Scott’s “Butterfly Effect,”Lil Uzi Vert’s “XO TOUR Llif3,” Camila Cabello’s “Omg (feat. Quavo)” and DJ Khaled “I’m the One (feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper & Lil Wayne).” But what makes this mix extra special is not the standard American rap hits you already know by heart but the sampling of UK and other non USA artists (that typically never cross the Atlantic) that loosely fall under the “hip-hop” umbrella including dancehall. These include UK reggae tinged pop rap acts Yungen (“Bestie (feat. Yxng Bane)”) and Lethal Bizzle (“Celebrate (feat. Donae'o & Diztortion)”), Spanish artist Bad Gyal whom one reviewer accurately described as “a Rihanna-loving dancehall badass from Barcelona,” and the Birmingham, England duo of Ash and Lucas, known as the Lotto Boyzz and their “Afro bashment” style (“No Don (feat. Mr Eazi) [Remix]”)

NEW VINYL #4 Future  HNDRXX LP  (A1 Recordings, Freebandz, Epic)

HNDRXX LP  that originally was released last February within just one week of  Future's self-titled album (also on vinyl Future LP); this is the sixth studio album by the ever popular ATL raised rapper Future. Like its predecessor this album is also eponymous since HNDRXX or Hndrxx  is the short for “Future Hendrix” which is Future’s other alias. Also a 2017 number one Billboard hit album by Future, it earned him the distinction of being the first artist to release two Billboard 200 chart topping albums in two consecutive weeks! With guest star features from Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, The Weeknd and Chris Brown the album sports the hit singles: "Selfish", "Pie", "Incredible", and "You da Baddest".

#5 Lil Pump Lil Pump (Warner Bros.)

Yeah it’s been out a few months in digital download format but as of last week (Jan 5th 2018) you can now hold the physical CD version of Lil Pump's album Lil Pump with its cool cover artwork and 15 tracks clocking in at 37 minutes.  Included here (of course) is the "Soundcloud rap" ambassador's both loved and hated, albeit ubiquitous, lyrically repetitive runaway hit single of the past year, “Gucci Gang.” Also on Lil Pump  are such other already popular joints as “Boss,” “Flex Like Ouu,” “Iced Out,” “D Rose” and “Molly.” In addition to his longtime pal/collaborator, producer/rapper Smokespurpp (aka Lil Purpp), who joins Pump on three different album tracks, other select mic guests include 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Chief Keef, Rick Ross and Lil Yachty. Note that Lil Pump reportedly joined Lil Yachty in the studio on his forthcoming 2018 release,  Lil Boat 2; that just completed album that was first set to be released in December.
