Today is Cyber Monday until 11:59pm Pacific Time and Amoeba has slashed prices by 20% on items on! Just enter the special CYBER20 code at checkout to receive the discount. This sale include some truly dope hip-hop records and CDs that would make both perfect holiday gifts for others and treats for oneself. Below is a top ten list of some of the best hip-hop Cyber Monday gift ideas, and all at 20% off plus free shipping in the U.S. All are classic hip-hop recordings, mostly recent re-releases in either original or newly presented packaging. They include both CD and vinyl releases that are all reduced significantly today only for Cyber Monday at Amoeba Music.

1) Public Enemy's latest, recommended (13th studio) album Man Plans God Laughs + the Chuck D led crew's hits collection Fight The Power: The Collection together as a two CD set make for the perfect introduction to one of the greatest acts in hip-hop history. I cannot recommend PE's latest album Man Plans God Laughs (also available in vinyl) enough. With incredible production ? Gary G Wiz and Carl Ryder (aka Chuck D) the new album manages to capture the PE vibe of old and blend it together on the new tracks on this five star album. Meanwhile the Fight The Power: The Collection  clocks in at one hour, ten minutes with 16 tracks featuring all the classics and more. Included are "Fight The Power," "Don't Believe The Hype," "Public Enemy No. 1," "Rebel Without A Pause," "Night Of The Living Baseheads," "Louder Than A Bomb," "Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos," "Burn Hollywood Burn (feat. Ice Cube)," "By The Time I Get To Arizona" and "Can't Truss It." Regularly priced at $9.98 while the new CD released by SPITdigital is $13.98 = total of $23.96 but with Cyber Monday Amoeba discount = $19.17!

2)  This year's popular N.W.A. biopic has introduced a whole new audience to the notorious West Coast gangsta rap icons. This was made further apparent to me last week while walking down the street in New York when two enthusiastically vocal teens walked by playing and singing along with "Gangsta Gangsta" - and clearly loving every lyric and beat of the song. While the Straight Outta Compton movie won't be released on DVD and BluRay until January 2016 available now is the perfect gift idea or treat for oneself idea; the Straight Outta Compton [Picture Disc] LP that was released earlier this year and includes all the classics like the title track, "Fuck The Police,"  "Dopeman," and the aforementioned "Gangsta Gangsta." Collectible item priced at $32.98 becomes $25.60 with Cyber Monday discount. Note that there is also the CD version of Straight Outta Compton that includes bonus tracks.

3) MF DOOM, who recently made a video promising a prolific 2016 that was featured here on the Amoeblog, has many great releases to scoop up but one highly recommended one in both LP and CD version is his 2004 classic MM..Food. with that memorable Jeff Jank art design. This is available in both the MM..Food double LP set  care of Fat Beats (reduced for Cyber Monday to $15.98) and the MM..Food CD/DVD care of Rhymesayers Entertainment with that bonus DVD included in two disc set.

4) The godfather of Oakland rap Too $hort has released a lot of music over his three decade career but his 1987 album Born To Mack ranks as many fans favorite with its "Warning: Ghetto Music!!! Can Be Hazardous If Not Played Loud"  alert. Clocking in at 50 minutes with 8 long tracks, it includes such Short Dog classics as "Freaky Tales," "Dope Fiend Beat," "Little Girls" and "Mack Attack." Long unavailable in vinyl format, the Short Dog classic was reissued earlier this year in a top quality vinyl repressing by Plain Recordings Born To Mack [180 Gram Vinyl] (LP). This 180 gram vinyl pressing is priced at $24.98 with Cyber Monday discount is now reduced to just under $20.

5) Eric B & Rakim's first three albums - all thankfully still in print and at a nice price of $9.98 each on CD (that's before Cyber Monday discount) - would make the perfect gift for someone (everyone) who needs to have the first three albums by this iconic duo featuring Rakim who is oft considered the greatest lyricist of the genre.  That's 1987's Paid In Full, 1988's Follow The Leader, and 1990's Let The Rhythm Hit Em. Combined with Cyber Monday discount you get all three CD albums (with free shipping in US) for only $23.95!
