Thanks to my man DJ Inti at Amoeba Berkeley for nicely breaking down this week's Hip-Hop Top Five chart at the Telegraph Avenue store. This week's list contains many of the same new releases that have also been doing well over the past week or two at both other Amoebas. These include Kanye West, Cee Lo Green, Kid Cudi, Nicki Minaj, and, in a tie for #5, Eligh and Damu The Fudgemunk. Below are corresponding videos for each of these six new albums plus a video for the song "Ya Yo Se" off Chico Mann's Analog Drift.. Meanwhile concert picks for the Bay Area for the week ahead include Del Tha Funky Homosapien at Yoshi's in San Francisco at 8pm J-Boogie + Sake Oneon Wednesday and Thursday (Dec 15 & 16). Tix $25/$30. More info here.

Tonight at Eve Lounge in San Francisco is the (West Coast themed) Leftism dance party with resident DJs J-Boogie and Sake One holding it down. Not only is there no cover to get in, but tonight these Bay DJ legends (pictured right) will be giving away free copies of the third and latest volume in their Leftism mix CD series showcasing the sound of the lLeft coast Latin, soul, funk, R&B and hip hop. The mix features the latest edits and remixes from the Blanco Bros. More info here.

Jazz saxophonist and flutist James Moody died yesterday (Dec 9th) at age 85 from pancreatic cancer. In terms of hip-hop music he has been sampled by many artists over the years including the Bay Area's Extra Prolific from the Hieroglyphics camp, whose 1994 Jive Records single "Brown Sugar (Domino remix)" sampled Moody's song "First Thing in the Morning" off the late great artist's 1973 album Sax and Flute Man (Paula Records).
