No One Was Driving The Car [Green Smoke Vinyl] (LP)

La Dispute

La Dispute returns with their fifth studio album, No One Was Driving The Car . The post-hardcore veterans took inspiration from the 2017 film, First Reformed , for this apocalyptic set. Propulsive, angular, and ominous, the band broods heavily behind the distinctive, shouted vocals of frontman Jordan Dreyer. "I Dreamt of a Room with All My Friends I Could Not Get In" stands out for its hushed melancholy verses and plaintive, urgent chorus.

Shapeshifter (CD)

The Triptides

LA psych rockers Triptides latest unfolds like a golden sunrise over the Pacific. Warm rays of Wurlitzer and Farfisa organ radiate through a swirling haze of infinite, dimensional melodies and harmonies. A floodtide of laid-back grooves unfold and uplift, unfurling gracefully with nods to psychedelic rock, Laurel Canyon folk, and space jazz.

A Danger To Ourselves (LP)

Lucrecia Dalt

Colombian singer Lucrecia Dalt’s seventh album, A Danger To Ourselves , is a bewitchingly dark selection of songs perfect for the cooler weather of fall. She is joined on the opening track, "Cosa Rara," by new wave icon David Sylvian of Japan, which sets the tone for what is to come. Her hauntingly beautiful voice is the center which everything else on this album orbits. Alternating between English and her native Spanish, Danger is a multicultural tapestry that will have you dancing like Wednesday Addams.

Better Days (CD)

Yellowcard

Yellowcard's Better Days is a blast. Grungy alt-rock meets anthemic pop-punk in these powerful, raw, and ultimately hopeful songs. With choruses this infectious, these tracks are all but guaranteed to get lodged into your head in the best possible way.

Rude [Blue/White/Red Striped Vinyl] (LP)

Spiritual Cramp

Spiritual Cramp's Rude will hit the sweet spot for fans of cheeky garage punk. Produced by indie superproducer and Grammy Award-winner John Congleton, the sound of the album is raw, fierce, and driving. The band writes hard-edged, occasionally droll rockers with a bit of post-punk, new wave, and dub influences thrown in for good measure. Sharon Van Etten contributes vocals on the duet "You've Got My Number." Snotty, smart, and full throttle, Rude is an all-around good time.

Cut. Turn. Fade. Back. (CD)

Hail The Sun

Hail the Sun return with the sweeping Cut.Turn.Fade.Back. The post-hardcore heroes ably fuse gripping melodic vocals with ferocious, furious screams, pounding percussion with piercing guitar riffs. The band has never sounded more hard-hitting, and with lyrical themes of greed, division, imperialism, carnage, and control, this new album leaves a mark. But it's not all darkness. Hail the Sun delivers the turbulence and defiance appropriate for our moment in time while sneaking in moments of beauty, catharsis, and redemption.

Later Than You Think (CD)

John Maus

Straight outta the Ozarks comes the latest from electronic experimental auteur John Maus, Later Than You Think . His trademark haunting vocals are omnipresent as the album launches with an intense, driving darkwave sound, before settling into an intimately subdued yet passionate album of subtle synthpop.

McCartney, It'll Be OK (CD)

University

University's debut album is a trip. The UK punks joined producer Kwes Darko (Sampa The Great, Denzel Curry) at Damon Albarn's London studio to record the explosive, enjoyable tracks on McCartney, It'll Be OK . The band blends indie rock, punk, noise, math rock into a tidal wave of pure energy and emotion. And it's a darn good time. This is unpredictable, unhinged punk rock at its finest, the sounds that make you feel glad to be alive, with your feet sticking to the floor at some sweaty basement show.

Get Sunk (CD)

Matt Berninger

Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years is both a celebration and reclamation. For the first time, Fogerty fully owns the rights to his music and has recorded new versions of his songs with raw energy and renewed fire. More than a greatest hits album, Legacy celebrates the songs that shaped rock history - on Fogerty's own terms.

Revengeseekerz (LP)

Jane Remover

Jane Remover evolves their sound in exciting, intense directions on Revengeseekerz . The shoegaze and post-rock influences of yore are still present, but this latest draws more from the hyperdrive worlds of EDM, noise, rap, and digicore. Yep, it's an intense, mind-exploding listen! It's also innovative, at times ultra catchy, and beautiful. The relentless, fierce Revengeseekerz is unlike anything else you'll hear right now.

The End (CD)

Mammoth

Wolfgang Van Halen is a star in his own right. The virtuoso guitar player and songwriter plays every instrument and sings every vocal part on his recordings; Mammoth's The End is an impressive and enjoyable showcase for his many talents. These songs are electrifying, an update on classic '80s metal that captures the nuances of the beloved genre while infusing it with a contemporary edge. The guitarwork, as expected, is frankly incredible, the vocals are powerful and compelling. Turn The End up loud.

VII [Orange Vinyl] (LP)

The Budos Band

The Budos Band are back with another sizzling collection of instrumental tracks. VII is an evocative blend of psych, funk, jazz, and soul with Afrobeat, spaghetti western, and metal flourishes. The songs feel like the soundtrack to an ultra cool '60s era action flick set in some distant desert locale. They're spirited, invigorating, and atmospheric, the type of songs that will turn up the heat on a summer night or transport the listener to a swingin' fantasy oasis. Delightful and dreamy, VII will transform any setting into a more adventurous, hip, retro scene.
