Vengeance And Grace (CD)
Benjamin Tod
With an appearance at Coachella and a new album, Vengeance and Grace , it should be a very good year for Tennessee native Benjamin Tod. The tracks on Vengeance and Grace are presented in two ways: first, with his full band, The Inline Six, then shifting to stripped-down versions played by Tod on his own. His folksy, minimal Appalachian country exudes a delicate gentleness and stands in contrast to the glut of pop country “pickup trucks and beer” songs so prevalent today. Vengeance and Grace may get a little serious and emotional, but the destination is worth the trip.
Reflections ['Urchin' Color Vinyl] (LP)
From Ashes To New
From Ashes To New return with a vengeance. Their latest, Reflections , is devastating, angst-ridden, and intense. Yep, it's tailormade for our times. Alt-rock, melodic metal, and rap combine to create a wall of sound in each multilayered track. The choruses hit like a tidal wave, the verses speak to the anxiety, confusion, and disappointment bubbling just beneath the surface. Reflections is cathartic and explosive, a searing album that leaves a mark.
You Got This (CD)
Skindred
Kicking off with the aggro-motivational title track, Welsh ragga-rockers Skindred will have you believing in yourself before the song is done. The lads spit one fiery fist-pumping anthem after another, from the playful, dancy charm of “Can I Get A” to the White-Zombie-ish chug of the banger, “This Is the Sound.” Once again, Skindred stays true to what they do while still sounding fresh and new.
Movie (CD)
Sofiane Pamart
French piano phenomenon Sofiane Pamart crafts a soundtrack to a movie that he has imagined. He states, “I often receive proposals to compose for films, but I wanted this album to be my own movie.” On the aptly titled Movie , Pamart has joined up with artists from around the world to actualize his vision. He collaborates with artists like J Balvin and Wyclef Jean, pop queens Nelly Furtado and SIA, and the renowned Prague Philharmonic Orchestra which provides an orchestral score accompaniment to the album.

Simpleton [Olive Green Vinyl] (LP)
Yot Club
Yot Club makes smart, sincere, addictive indie rock. Simpleton takes an incisive look at curation: in perfectly polished social media feeds and in the uniform expanses of the American suburb. Verses are hazy and thoughtful, the guitar-driven choruses are catchy with just enough rock 'n' roll grit. The lyrics are nuanced and sometimes laser sharp, as the band looks at stultifying routines and impenetrable facades. This is good old-fashioned indie rock that ranks among the best of the genre.
Snocaps [Frosted Blue Vinyl] (LP)
Snocaps
Sisters Katie and Allison Crutchfield are Snocaps. Known for their work with Waxahatchee and Swearin', Snocaps' self-titled debut is a skillfully-constructed blend of folk and indie rock. The harmonies are delectable, the lyrics paint striking images, the melodies lively and emotional. The songs are warm and inviting, rollicking and questing. This one already feels like a classic.
A Matter Of Time: The Final Hour (CD)
Laufey
Laufey's GRAMMY-winning 2025 album is getting reissued with four lovely additional tracks. Produced by Spencer Stewart and Aaron Dessner of The National, A Matter Of Time: The Final Hour is a sweepingly romantic album. Laufey delivers some heart-in-your-throat moments in these exquisite torch songs. They're expressive, thoughtful, and swoonworthy. Put this album on and lose yourself in Laufey's cinematic, dreamy sound.
The Hives Forever Forever The Hives (CD)
The Hives
Sometimes you just need some good and gritty rock 'n' roll. That's where The Hives come in. The Swedish garage rockers are back with another bigger-than-life, brilliant, and brash record, The Hives Forever Forever The Hives . Over the course of its short-but-oh-so-sweet 33 minute run time, the album sneers and rages, stomps and celebrates. There's a song for every occasion here...as long as that occasion is powered by a full-throttle, punk rock excess. With some of the most irresistible hooks in the band's career, this new record hits the spot.

The World Is Not Good Enough (LP)
Sean Solomon
Former Moaning vocalist/guitarist Sean Solomon makes his solo album debut with the poignant The World Is Not Good Enough . The LA musician and cartoonist exudes a relatable vulnerability in these melodic indie rock songs. "Remember" is a gentle earworm about trying to come to terms with the changes in our lives. "Black Hole" is a sobering look at a disconnection with a parent, with the heart wrenching lyric "I love you, you don't have to love me too." The propulsive "Shooting Star" buoys its portrait of depression with a soaring, incongruously hopeful chorus. This one is for fans of smart, affecting indie like Death Cab For Cutie.
The Bestiary (CD)
Castle Rat
Castle Rat's Bestiary is a mind-bending, beautiful metal album. Vocalist/guitar player The Rat Queen (aka Riley Pinkerton) has a spellbinding voice, equally suited for the ethereal folklore-influenced tracks and the heavier, more pounding tracks. Hypnotic, harsh, and steeped in a mythology and witchiness all the band's own, the album was recorded by Randall Dunn (Sunn O))), Björk, Wolves in the Throne Room) and mixed by Jonathan Nuñez (Torche, Restless Spirit). Bestiary is simply stunning, a fierce and feverish album that stands out amongst this year's metal releases.
Music For Intersecting Planes [Brick Red Vinyl] (LP)
Kali Malone
Atmospheric, sparse, and fascinating, organist Kali Malone and cellist Leila Bordreuil recorded this joint effort at the Temple of La Tour-de-Peilz in Switzerland, playing at night, by candlelight. Music For Intersecting Planes is an excellent title for this experimental work, as you do feel like you're briefly suspended in motion in a more contemplative, curious place. Church bells and revving motorcycles weave through the background of the recording, adding further intrigue to this avant-garde exploration.
Something To Consume [Green Vinyl] (LP)
Die Spitz
Austin, TX's Die Spitz deliver one of the fiercest punk rock records in recent memory with Something to Consume . The band gets into sludgy noise territory, moves into post-punk gloom, and then cranks it up again. Moody, dark, and fueled with rage, it's fantastic.
