L.A.-based dream poppers United Ghosts today premiere their video for the song “Unhypnotized” exclusively on the Amoebablog. The song features lovely female/male vocal interchange over a film-noir-inspired riff, while the video sees the band seeming to de-brainwash a bunch of nerdy cult members with their extremely cool sound. Ironically, the whole thing’s pretty hypnotic. They’ll play a video premiere party at the Bootleg Theatre in LA next Wednesday! Download "Unhypnotized" free here.

 

 

OFF!“Wrong” video

So what’s the “right” way (UGH!) to make a video out of a 49-second hardcore song? Get Jack Black to star in a fake ’70s grindhouse/daytime action movie scene. The hardcore supergroup of L.A. punk greats Circle Jerks/Black Flag singer Keith Morris, Burning Brides’ Dimitri Coats, Redd Kross bassist Steven McDonald (read my interview with him here) and Rocket From The Crypt/Hot Snakes drummer Mario Rubalcaba released a bracing self-titled album this year. This video reminds me of that scene in Anchorman where all the fake news dudes fight. I hope Anchorman 2 is good!
