Juice is a new East Bay monthly club night been thrown by G-Koop and DJ Platurn that  features both DJs and live musicians. It kicks off next Friday (and every 1st friday thereafter) with resident DJ Platurn, guest DJ Design, his former group Foreign Legion (emcees Prozack Turner and Marc Stretch) as hosts, plus G-Koop & O-Man (live band featuring DJ Toure of Hieros fame on drums) who promise to bring "live interpretations of music from their unique beat making video series with special guests." It should be an excellent start to the monthly and also the brand new venue it is being held in: The Legionnaire Saloon at 2272 Telegraph (near West Grand and 23rd streets) in downtown Oakland in a space that was formerly the Paradiso nightclub. 21+ 8pm to 2am More info here.

Kid Tsunami “Bang Exclusive (feat. Sean Price)”  (2013)

For his latest release Kid Tsunami has teamed up with Sean Price for the above video/ first single from his forthcoming compilation album, The Chase, which will arrive in Amoeba in April. Based on the above track and some of the guests announced (Pharoahe Monch, Kool Keith, Masta Ace, Sadat X, Kool G Rap, KRS-One, Prince Po, O.C., J-Live, El Da Sensei, Jeru The Damaja, and Buckshot) it should be a good one. The video for "Bang Exclusive" was shot in downtown Brooklyn by Mark Carranceja who is also the video's director and editor.

Sadat X "This is Our Thing (feat. Pharoahe Monch & Phil G)" (2013)

Hip-hop icon Sadat X, who first came to fame via Brand Nubian back in the early nineties, has recruited both Pharoahe Monch and Phil G for the above track ("This is Our Thing") which is from his brand new album Love, Hell or Right released by Canadian label 6.8.2 Records. With studio assistance from a variety of producers including DJ Spinna, Showbiz, Marco Polo, Grant Parks, and Scram Jones the longtime emcee is also joined by several mic guests too on the 14 track new album. These include Mysonne, N.O.R.E., Smif-N-Wessun, Roc Marciano, AG, Masta Ace, Dres of Black Sheep, and Jarobi of A Tribe Called Quest affiliation.

As outlined in the video clip above indie hip-hop group Cannibal Ox - once associated with the Def Jux label and considered to have been broken up (they weren't) but are back with  - are preparing to release a new maxi single on their IGC label, and for it the Harlem NY duo are inviting fans to make the cover art. For this they are holding a cover art competition for which fans who submit work must accompany each submission with a non-refundable $5 fee. No doubt this is a sign of the times when artists, who find it hard to make money from music with the traditional ways of making money off music sales down, need to revert to creative ways to make money like this.

Sadistik "Russian Roulette (feat. Cage & Yes Alexander)" (2013)

Seattle's Sadistik released his first solo record in five years; Flowers For My Father on Fake Four, Inc. featuring such tracks as the single/video above "Russian Roulette" featuring both Cage and Yes Alexander. To celebrate the release of the album, Sadistik is also unveiling the video for the latest single from Flowers, Of the video for the new track offered Sadistik, "Both Cage and myself have a lot of material dealing with bitter breakups and unstable women, so I wanted the video to reflect that. I wanted to show a vulnerability and fear towards women hurting a man.”

Cappadonna “Puffed On Pride” (2013)

In addition to the second installment of Cappadonna’s Eyrth, Wynd & Fyre webisode series (below), the Wu-Tang member has also recently unveiled the above new music video for his forthcoming full-length Eyrth, Wynd & Fyre album track "Puffed On Pride."
