Recipe For Hate [Translucent Tigers Eye Vinyl] (LP)

Bad Religion

1993's Recipe for Hate is Bad Religion's most eclectic album and a controversial one for the fans. The band focuses on events of the day, serving scathing commentary on the state of the nation, specifically alcoholism, abortion, and homelessness. Greg Graffin reaffirms his place as one of the best punk rock vocalists with his trademark combination of perfect pitch and skeptical emotion. The album also features guest vocals from Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Concrete Blonde's Johnette Napolitano.

Glovemaker (CD)

Loren Kramar

Loren Kramar's Glovemaker is the type of bigger-than-life, character-driven album that feels like it came from a bygone era. Kramar sings of love, longing, and fame and the intersection of the three, infusing his songs with classic R&B, soul, and lounge sounds. He paints worlds filled with huge emotions, deep desires, and a fair share of humor. As an artist, he calls to mind figures like Serge Gainsbourg, Scott Walker, and Lana Del Rey: sultry, kooky, gleefully teetering on the verge. Glovemaker is your ideal soundtrack for driving to the Polo Lounge with perfect hair, a studio deal, and an Eve Babitz paperback.

Lisa Frankenstein [Collector's Edition] (BLU)

Zelda Williams

A coming of rage love story from acclaimed writer Diablo Cody and director Zelda Williams about a misunderstood teenager and her high school crush, who happens to be a handsome corpse. After a set of playfully horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a murderous journey to find love, happiness... and a few missing body parts along the way.

Wall Of Eyes (CD)

The Smile

The Smile's Wall of Eyes is a powerful slow burn. These languid, lush songs unroll at their own pace, building a powerful mood that crescendoes as the album goes along. The tracks are devastatingly lovely, discordant and unsettling, with moments of sublime beauty. Alongside drummer Tom Skinner, Radiohead members Jonny Greenwood and Thom Yorke magnificently blend familiar elements of their legendary band's sound while still charting exciting new sonic ground.

Drive-Away Dolls (BLU)

Ethan Coen

Written by Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke, this comedy caper follows Jamie, an uninhibited free spirit bemoaning yet another breakup with a girlfriend, and her demure friend Marian who desperately needs to loosen up. In search of a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they cross paths with a group of inept criminals along the way.

Bright Future (CD)

Adrianne Lenker

Adrianne Lenker's Bright Future is a testament to growth, resilience, and the transmutation of emotions. That's transmutation in both the musical and the emotional sense: the second track is titled "Sadness as a Gift," if you needed a case in point. There's a tears-in-your-eyes clarity to the heartbreak detailed in these songs with their keening strings, tender guitars, and Lenker's sweetly bitter vocals. Bright Future is an album that finds meaning in the temporality of both pain and pleasure. An album that feels like a companion for the days you're looking for something or someone to hold onto.

Bewitched: The Goddess Edition (CD)

Laufey

Transform your existence into a more glamorous, romantic, and retro one with Laufey's Bewitched: The Goddess Edition . The Icelandic artist creates dreamy vocal jazz that sounds like it could've come straight out of the Golden Age of Hollywood, or from the songbook of legends like Sarah Vaughan or Ella Fitzgerald. The songs move from sweeping and grand to intimate and vulnerable, with a dash of bossa nova and classical mixed into her throwback jazz sound. While Bewitched was a 2023 GRAMMY winner, The Goddess Edition features four stellar new tracks, including the titular single, "Goddess." Turn down the lights, put on something pastel, and enter Laufey's marvelous, magical world.

Ballad Of The Brothers (CD)

The Bacon Brothers

The Bacon Brothers' new album is a rollicking good time. More than just a celebrity band, actor Kevin and Emmy-winning composer Michael clearly know their musical history. Ballad of the Brothers blends old time folk, retro soul, alt-rock, and country into a travelogue through the past and present of American music. A rootsy, spirited, thoroughly enjoyable good time, Ballad of the Brothers showcases the Bacon Brothers' ability to tell a good tale and write a toe-tappin' tune.

Closer (CD)

Maria Chiara Argiro

Maria Chiara Argiro's Closer is pure leftfield pop bliss. The London-via-Rome singer, pianist, composer & producer wrote the album to evoke the dreamlike feeling she experienced in the time leaning up to its creation — and that's exactly what it feels like. Argiro is a familiar force in the UK jazz, electronic, and classical scenes and while these lovely tracks have pop bones, they're dressed up with hypnotic electronic beats, jazz trumpet, and gauzy synths. Closer is a refreshing listen, the type of album that just hits a little deeper and makes you glad to be alive.

Teething (CD)

Porij

Porij's Teething sounds like falling in love. The UK four-piece combines garage, house, nu-jazz, and electro-pop into lush, dreamlike tracks. "Ghost" is soft and intimate, a track as tender as it is bittersweet. With its whispered vocals and heartbeat rhythms, "You Should Know Me" starts off like the soundtrack to the afterparty after the afterparty before bursting into gleeful ravey abandon. "My Only Love" is hushed and wondrous and a conversation overheard between two lovers. Teething is a captivating slice of electro, with an appreciation for the brief, beautiful moments in life, and an ability to craft a mood that'll linger long after the record stops spinning.

Boeckner! (CD)

Boeckner

Filled with lively, catchy rock that calls to mind The Cars and David Bowie, Boeckner's solo debut is the culmination of his deep library of musical influence and his quest for self-realization. In Boeckner's hands, the journey of working through the grit and gravel that accumulates in the heart involves post-apocalyptic synth and guitar heroism. Throughout his work with Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, and other bands, the Canadian indie rocker recognizes that few feelings are more gratifying than hope. But it takes getting the hell out of your own way.

Let There Be Music (CD)

Bonny Doon

Bonny Doon's latest musical journey is one that has big payoffs for devoted followers and undeniable rewards for anyone just discovering them. Let There Be Music presents the band at their most dynamic and the songwriting deftly explores new terrain. Indelible guitar lines lay the solid foundation while the lyrics reach skyward with philosophical truths - both profound and mundane, comforting and difficult.
