
Like many Earthlings, I watched the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, as directed by Danny Boyle – along with four guests and not enough wine.
Humanity is divided on the spectacle’s merits and failings; some feel it’s quirky whimsicality was “particularly British” and a welcome change from the Borg-like precision of Beijing’s previous efforts; others thought it was… well, bollocks. (I’ll reserve my own opinions for those unlucky enough to spend time with me in person.)
Like many music geeks, the tribute to British popular music quickly became a game of “how many song titles/artists can I identify before anyone else sitting here.” For those of you curious, as I was, to see all the music that was highlighted, here’s a list of what was heard:
