Madlib feat. Doom & Dilla (2011)
Completing the twelve-part Madlib Medicine Show series from a year ago, Madlib serves up a mix of many things here in a release that Stones Throw calls "part mixtape, part beat tape, featuring a host of un-suspecting collaborators that run the gamut from thugs, street poets, star emcees and underdogs."

Blu feat. Chop & Fresh Daily "Part Time Suckas" (2011)

If the artist Blu seems unstoppable, he is. He just keeps hitting us with a seemingly non-stop flow of new releases - many reissues or reworkings for those catching up on the artist. The latest from the artist, Open, was initially posted online as a Blu-produced instrumental set, But now it has been giving a whole new life by it been transformed into an album with vocals from some great talent like this one with Chop and Fresh Daily.

Evidence "You" - DJ Premier produced track off Cats & Dogs on Rhymesayers (2011)

Das Racist "Relax" (2011)

Roach Gigz - "Gina" (2011)

Above is the brand new Young Remedy directed video for the infectious track "Gina" by super-talented young SF rapper Roach Gigz who first came to fame with close friend Lil 4Tay as one half of the group Bitch I Go (B.I.G.). The song "Gina" is taken from his latest Bitch, I'm A Player EP. Lyrically, beyond its obvious girls and weed themes, it also touches on other topics too such as the effects of gentrification in San Francisco - a topic similarly explored by Fillmore, San Francisco rapper DaVinci.

In addition to the digital version of Roach Gigz' latest release there is also a new physical CD version. Additionally there is a limited-edition 4-disc release that comes with this EP plus both his Roachy Balboa: Round 1, Roachy Balboa: Round 2 releases plus his debut solo mixtape Buckets & Booty Calls. There is also a T-shirt in the package. More info here.

There's a lot of stuff happening just tonight in the Bay Area. In San Francisco at Madrone Bar on Divisidero the Bomb Hip-Hop 20 year anniversary party is jumping off. Click here to read full details plus Amoeblog interview from yesterday with the Bomb's Dave Paul on the party and the 20 years that led up to this point. In the East Bay this evening at the Oakland Museum of California is the big O.Zone party with the Oakland Faders' DJ Platurn and Boots Riely and The Coup among the entertainers. Check the Amoeblog preview of this event and, if you go tonight, look for the Amoeba booth where there will be all sorts of giveaways and a Beard & Mustache Photobooth.for the event's big contest. (hence why Conspiracy of Beards really fit the bill tonight).

Also tonight the much buzzed hip-hop group, lovingingly known as Odd Future but whose way-too-long official full name is Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (aka OFWGKTA) are in San Francisco headlining at the Warfield Theater on Market Street in what looks like is going to be a packed show by the envelope pushing LA hip-hop collective who a year ago hardly anyone knew of. Now they're headlining the Warfield! For more ticket info on this 9pm show click here.

Colorado's DJ Vajra, who took the title for best DJ at the US DMC Finals in NYC last month, is flying to the UK next week to represent the US in the DMC World DJ Championships at Indig02 in London October 6th and 7th.

And finally we say rest in peace to hip-hop music exec Sylvia Robinson who passed yesterday at age 75 from congestive heart failure reportedly. Besides her own earlier recording career (that included the hit "Pillow Talk") Robinson will always be best remembered for the pioneering rap record label she co-founded Sugarhill Records with a roster of such influential acts as Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and the Sugarhill Gang. In her honor below is the Sugarhill Gang's hit "Rappers Delight."
