Blu feat. Chop & Fresh Daily "Part Time Suckas" (2011)
If the artist Blu seems unstoppable, he is. He just keeps hitting us with a seemingly non-stop flow of new releases - many reissues or reworkings for those catching up on the artist. The latest from the artist, Open, was initially posted online as a Blu-produced instrumental set, But now it has been giving a whole new life by it been transformed into an album with vocals from some great talent like this one with Chop and Fresh Daily.
Evidence "You" - DJ Premier produced track off Cats & Dogs on Rhymesayers (2011)
Das Racist "Relax" (2011)
Roach Gigz - "Gina" (2011)
Above is the brand new Young Remedy directed video for the infectious track "Gina" by super-talented young SF rapper Roach Gigz who first came to fame with close friend Lil 4Tay as one half of the group Bitch I Go (B.I.G.). The song "Gina" is taken from his latest Bitch, I'm A Player EP. Lyrically, beyond its obvious girls and weed themes, it also touches on other topics too such as the effects of gentrification in San Francisco - a topic similarly explored by Fillmore, San Francisco rapper DaVinci.
In addition to the digital version of Roach Gigz' latest release there is also a new physical CD version. Additionally there is a limited-edition 4-disc release that comes with this EP plus both his Roachy Balboa: Round 1, Roachy Balboa: Round 2 releases plus his debut solo mixtape Buckets & Booty Calls. There is also a T-shirt in the package. More info here.

And finally we say rest in peace to hip-hop music exec Sylvia Robinson who passed yesterday at age 75 from congestive heart failure reportedly. Besides her own earlier recording career (that included the hit "Pillow Talk") Robinson will always be best remembered for the pioneering rap record label she co-founded Sugarhill Records with a roster of such influential acts as Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and the Sugarhill Gang. In her honor below is the Sugarhill Gang's hit "Rappers Delight."
