1990's BAY AREA RAVE & PARTY FLIERS PART I

Bay Area House Techno Rave Parties in 1990's - Part I

Some of the best Bay Area parties from the early nineties onwards had some of the best DJs (that goes without saying - da Bay is home of the DJ) ... and also some of the best fliers.  Being an avid collector of fliers, I saved a bunch of them. Many others have saved them too including the ever-evolving San Francisco music fan Porkchop and of course the wonderful folks at SF Raves Dot Org who have archived numerous fliers from the nineties on their recommended website.

This is Part I in a series that could go on forever. If you have any URL links to fliers of SF/Bay Area parties from the nineties especially - or any memories to share of specific Bay Area parties or DJs please scroll on down to the COMMENTS box and share. Thanks!

The nineties? All I remember is glow sticks, strobe lights, and my whole body vibrating whenever the bass hit after the breakdown. Oh yeah, and the moon of course. Beyond that it's all just a blur. Strange, I have no recollection of short or long term memory loss... -Flash

Good times, Good times. I believe 177 Townsend is now a parking garage. The Wicked parties there were pretty slick, I think people had more fun at the King St Garage, but they had a lot of fun with the flyers with their tenure at Townsend. I like how long standing parties have a different and distinct look based on their location. Stompy was on the same tip and had different and unique flyers depending on their tenure at Townsend or VSF or 550 Barneveld or CocoMo. And that was the 1st Progress flyer, I believe. That girl was really caught up in that book and wanted to anoint herself as San Francisco’s new spiritual leader. When San Francisco politely declined her offer she got all Charles Manson and wrote a piece in Lotus magazine about how the SF scene was like old yeller and needed to be taken out back and shot in the head. Too much PLUR will do that to you. The last Progress party was fun though, a free outdoor daytime party with Doc Martin and Derrick Carter (I believe) in front of City Hall. I have that flyer around somewhere...
