When the kick and clipped snare begin this record, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re in for a typical house workout - Tornado Wallace does his best to confound these expectations after the opening salvo. Opener “Bit 1” builds on an intricate arpeggio and live sounding bass to build a loping funk groove suitable for most psychedelic journeys. Cloud Country is a modern kosmische burner built on popping bottlecaps and digital rototoms. The longer b-side takes dance music escapism to another level, or astral plane, as it were. Copping a creepy new wage motivational spoken word sample, the Australian producer builds a futureworld monster out of Moroder-esque bass and a gorgeous Yamaha CS-80 lead. Huge and weird!
