The Painted Word (CD)
Television Personalities
Amoeba Review
Tiffany Anders 10/19/2010
Cult psychedelic post-punk band The Television Personalities released yet another gem of fantastically crafted songs with their last album, The Painted Word, before a five year hiatus. Front man Dan Treacy delivers wonderful charm, honesty, and insight with a pinch of melancholy. Standout tracks include the title track “The Painted Word,” “The Girl Who Had Everything,” and “A Sense Of Belonging.” This release also features original member Joe Foster as co-producer: he does a fantastic job of making the cherished lo-fi quality the band is known for a tad more sophisticated while still retaining all of its charm.
