The Lumineers’ self-titled debut manages to sound like your favorite bar band — they even include the sounds of people gathering and drinking in the background of standout “Classy Girls” — while mining the tried-and-true sounds of Appalachian folk. The Lumineers enliven their acoustic sing-alongs with fiddle and stomping rhythms that keep things interesting. Their mellower tunes, like the piano-based “Submarines” and majestic “Dead Sea,” are summer mixtape songs waiting to happen, while their more rollicking numbers, like the aptly titled “Ho Hey,” are impossible to resist.
