Susan possesses a delicious vocal talent, potent with expressive lyrical sway and voluptuous voicing, a free-floating yet earnest sensitiveness discovered. The band of piano, flugelhorn and drums (no bass) gives the sound a handsome, airy stillness, a placid elegiac jazz that transcends the genre. Prose by Dickinson, Bronte, Stevens, Teasdale and Abbuehl are the ingredients at the forefront of this refreshing, graceful project. Nothing else quite like it.
