Completed after his tour was cancelled by the pandemic, Kevin Morby's new record is well-suited for a return to Kansas from L.A. and isolation. With titles like "Don't Underestimate Midwest American Sun" (and the line "try as you might but you will not outrun the burn"), these are wry but soulful acoustic numbers meant to be sung along to in a pickup truck, just as Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield does in the video for "Wander." Short and sweet, with emphatic heartbeat drums, "Wander" is certainly one of the strongest tracks.
