Songs Of Patience (LP)
Alberta Cross
Amoeba Review
07/17/2012
Petter Stakee and Terry Wolfers whip up a soulful, desolate take on Southern rock, led by Stakee’s high, yearning voice and apocalyptic guitar. Their 2009 debut, Broken Side of Time, launched them into international recognition, touring with Oasis, Them Crooked Vultures and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. It’s been three years and as many false starts, but their grand followup is here at last and it does not disappoint. Drawn tight with high-wire energy, these big, hair-raising tunes belie the fact that Alberta Cross is essentially a two-piece. Fans of My Morning Jacket, Kings of Leon and Neil Young will dig.
