SBTRKT
Amoeba Review
Mahssa Taghinia 08/09/2011
This the debut album from SBTRKT and it has managed to infuse the sonic landscape of London's dance underground with a poppier flavour. And yes there's a U after than O in flavour, as this album nods heavily to various eras and staging posts in British soundsystem culture and couture. It's a vocal-heavy affair, and the rhythms are rooted in swinging, post-dubstep house, dark garage and echoes an affection for the ragga-jungle vibing. The record teams with ill bass mannerisms, broken beat shuffles and razor sharp electro as well. Sassy, smart, and edgewise. Recommended!
