Amoeba Review
Legendary guitarist and songwriter Don Felder is best known for his time in the Eagles during their chart-topping second half of the '70s. To put the finest possible point on it, he wrote the tune that eventually became "Hotel California" (Don Henley originally called it "Mexican Reggae" when Felder first played it for him). But he's also well-connected with plenty of other classic rockers, lots of whom help out on his second-ever solo album, Road to Forever. In fact, Crosby Stills & Nash bust right out of the gate with him on the opening track, the majestic "Fall From the Grace of Love," a great little melody that Felder says he started writing while in the Eagles and didn't finish til now. It's hard to beat that, but everyone from Steve Lukather to Tommy Shaw do their best on guest spots that follow. If you dig the classic sound of California country-rock, you'll love this new album from one of the great originators -- he's still mining gold!
