Mind Games [UK Apple] (LP)
John Lennon
Amoeba Review
Mind Games is the fourth solo album released by John Lennon subsequent to the breakup of the Beatles; it was issued by Apple/EMI in November of 1973. After the anti-establishment posturing and histrionics of the wildly uneven Some Time in New York City, Lennon presented Mind Games as a more conventional, good-natured romp, and utilized unknown studio musicians for a less claustrophobic feel. More to the point, these recordings coincided with his 18-month separation from Yoko Ono, and several of the songs address her directly. An accessible excursion, Mind Games went to the Top 10 on the US album charts.
