Celebrate the release of Rhino's Los Angeles Nuggets: Where the Action Is! Boxed Set with a in-store performance and signing by Jackie DeShannon, Keith Allison, Danny Hutton , The Peanut Butter Conspiracy, The Standells, and P.F. Sloan!

Compilation coproducer Andrew Sandoval will round out the evening with a DJ set featuring garage, sunshine pop, and singer-songwriter gems from the boxed set.

The latest installment of Rhino’s successful Nuggets series mapping an alternative musical history of the 1960s is Where The Action Is! Los Angeles Nuggets 1965-1968. To celebrate the release of the new four-CD boxed set, some of the brightest stars of the SoCal ’60s scene return to the Sunset Strip. On street date, September 22, four artists will take the stage at Amoeba Records in Hollywood to perform their songs from the collection – folk-rock queen Jackie DeShannon (“Splendor In The Grass”), erstwhile Raider Keith Allison (“Action, Action, Action,” the theme song to the’60s TV show Where The Action Is!), Three Dog Night founder Danny Hutton (“Roses And Rainbows”), and singer-songwriter P.F. Sloan (“Halloween Mary”) -- followed by a signing of the box. They’ll be backed by a band of L.A. music all-stars -- and with so much of the talent heard on Los Angeles Nuggets still based in the L.A. area, who knows who else might show up?
