Ever since the Beatles fathered it, psych-pop has never really died, and just now it seems to be experiencing one of its regular resurgences, with MGMT and Ariel Pink leading the way. Aussie power trio Tame Impala are here to help, with one of the finest debuts in recent memory! Swathed in fabulous day-glo extraterrestrial echo by Flaming Lips' producer Dave Fridmann, Innerspeaker is one big happy trip, merging T. Rex-y choruses with Happy Mondays-esque '70s funk riffs with Kevin Parker's fragile but powerful Lennon-y vocals into a perfect song cycle of summertime slurpee jams.
