NRBQ made an impressive comeback after their disappointing previous release, At Yankee Stadium. Filled with rollicking riffs and supremely crafted songs, NRBQ more than redeems themselves on Grooves In Orbit. From the sweet ballad “How Can I Make You Love Me,” which recalls a sound similar to that of The Everly Brothers, to the rockabilly-inspired “12 Bar Blues,” nearly every song on the album is steeped in classic songwriting. Highlights include the bouncy and catchy “Rain At The Drive In” and the slow-dance beauty “My Girlfriend’s Pretty.”
