Clear Moon (LP)
Mount Eerie
Amoeba Review
Brad Schelden, Hollywood 05/23/2013
Phil Elverum has been making music for the last 15 years or so. He ended his old band The Microphones and started working as a solo artist under the name Mount Eerie. He has put out mostly vinyl only releases over the last couple of years on his own label P.W. Elverum & Sun. Clear Moon is amazing. He may have created his lo-fi slowcore masterpiece. Imagine Low mixed up with Slowdive. This is the kind of album that I wish Mark Kozelek was still making. I have been really obsessed with this album lately. The best thing about this album is that there will also be a whole new album out later this year to go along with it! Ocean's Roar will be another vinyl only release out on September 4th. Maybe I will wear out Clear Moon by then. Phil Elverum is from Anacortes, Washington. And Mount Eerie is, of course, an actual mountain in the area. It makes sense. He really has managed to create one of the most beautiful albums of the year. You seriously need this album in your life. It might be a bit of a downer for some people. But I really can't get enough of it. I am glad I gave this album a chance and let it into my life. It has been too long that I have been neglecting Mr. Elverum.
