Ben Kunin - Biography

By Marcus Kagler

When classical guitarist Ben Kunin isn’t teaching Hindustani music theory and the sarod at Ali Akbar Khan’s school in San Rafael, California he is recording instrumental classical guitar albums of sublime grace. Equally inspired by Takoma era guitarist like John Fahey and Leo Kottke and Indian classical music, Kunin’s debut full length, Acoustic Adventures (2002-Communion) expands upon his influences in spiritually moving ways. Although his recorded material is few a far between Kunin has carved a niche for himself as one of the great masters of the classical guitar.
