Krist Novoselic is a Croatian-American musician, author, and politician who is best known as the bassist for Nirvana. In addition to Nirvana, Novoselic formed Sweet 75 and Eyes Adrift, and played with Flipper. His former Nirvana bandmate, Dave Grohl, recently announced that Novoselic will be playing on the new Foo Fighters album due out in 2011.
Novoselic has been active in politics in Washington State and across the US. In 1995, he formed JAMPAC (the Joint Artists and Music Promotions Political Action Committee), a political action committee to protect the freedom of expression in music and the freedom of choice for music consumers. In 2004, he published his first book, Of Grunge and Government: Let's Fix This Broken Democracy (RDV Books), part memoir and part political discourse. Also in 2004, Novoselic teamed with FairVote, a group that advocates different ways to vote, to promote his book and in 2008, he was appointed chairman of FairVote.
Novoselic continued to write about music and politics for Seattle Weekly's website from November 2007 to September 2010. He was also a DJ on Coast Community Radio in Washington for seven years. He is now working toward a degree and blogging for FairVote.
