Damian "Pink Eyes" Abraham is the lead singer of Toronto hardcore band Fucked Up, an avid vinyl collector, and a regular guest on the television program "Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld" on the FOX News channel.
Formed in 2001, Fucked Up is Pink Eyes (vocals), 10,000 Marbles (lead guitar), Concentration Camp (rhythm guitar), Mustard Gas (bass), Young Governor (guitar), and Mr. Jo (drums). The band started releasing 7" singles in 2002 which were collected on Epics in Minutes (Deranged, 2004). In 2004, the band also released two limited 12"s, Looking for Gold and Let Likes Be Cured By Likes. Their first full-length album was released in 2006, Hidden World (Jade Tree), nearly 5 years after they formed, followed in 2008 by The Chemistry of Common Life (Matador), and 2010's Couple Tracks: Singles 2002-2009 (Matador), a two-disc compilation of their now hard-to-find 7"s and 12"s.
The band has always chosen to follow its own path, eschewing MySpace or an official website, they instead rely on a blog to spread information, updates, and music. Their live shows are notorious and Pink Eyes is can often be found half-clothed and bleeding on stage. In 2007, fans caused thousands of dollars of damage at MTV Canada's studios by moshing during the band's live television debut in which they performed "Baiting The Public." The performance and the resulting destruction led to MTV Canada banning moshing during future live shows. The band was the first hardcore punk band to be on the cover of NME magazine. In 2009, the band won the Polaris Music Prize for The Chemistry of Common Life, an annual prize given to Canadian full-length albums regardless of genre, sales, or record label.
