Danger Mouse can morph anything and make it brilliant just like his fabled Grey Album (2004) made clear, and he does it again in an unlikely pairing with Italian composer Daniele Luppi in Rome—a parlay of spaghetti western-tinted chiaroscuro pop that transcends homage altogether. Norah Jones makes appearances (“Black,” “Problem Queen”) as does fellow polycollaborator Jack White (“The Rose With The Broken Neck”), but this album is stolen by the likes of Cantori Modern, the original choir on the soundtrack to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Yeah, it’s that kind of party.
