Claudio Monteverdi

 

Claudio Monteverdi was born on May 15th 1567 in Cremona Italy and died on November 29th 1643 in Venice. Monteverdi is generally considered the father of the Opera and modern vocal music in general. He was a member of the upper middle class his father was a doctor and surgeon. Monteverdi studied music at the Cathedral of Cremona with the singing master Marc’ Antonio Ingegerni.
