Alison Moorer’s national television debut was an auspicious and somewhat intimidating way to begin a career. In 1998, “A Soft Place to Fall,” a tune she wrote with Gwil Owen, was included on The Horse Whisperer: Songs From and Inspired by the Motion Picture (1998 MCA) and nominated for an Academy Award.
