WHAT'S NEW?

HOLLYWOOD - In Spring 2006, we relocated the Soundtrack CD section and massively expanded several DVD genres, and created a giant green-tag blowout section for titles $9.99 and under.  So now we have an entire floor devoted to movies.  That's right, AN ENTIRE FLOOR!  Perched on the mezzanine high above the mad musical action below, we stock the biggest, broadest and best selection of titles you'll ever find.  Here in the heart of Hollywood, we're a true meeting place for the movie community -- lots of actors and moviemakers can be spotted shopping.  We even have DVD release parties -- recent events have included launch parties for the DVDs of Forbidden Zone and Live Freaky! Die Freaky!

SAN FRANCISCO - In the Fall of 2005 we relocated our Jazz and Classical music sections to convert the entire Stanyan-side room into THE DVD ROOM!  Bigger and better than ever, with lots more space and selection, this is now the definitive spot in the Bay Area to satisfy your craving for movies!

BERKELEY - In June 2006 the Berkeley store got a facelift and an expansion, which means lots more DVDs and blowout sales have hit the floor.  Be sure to check out the store's new look and selection!

Laserdiscs live at Amoeba!  The emergence of the DVD has been a boon to the laserdisc collector, as cinefiles dump their old collections.  The crystal-clear picture and track selection are still there, but the prices are low, low, low and the titles are generally classic or rare.  And there's plenty of sought-after titles that still aren't on DVD, where laser is the only way to go.  Most of them are only a dollar!  Don't fear the big shiny disc -- come to Amoeba and find those titles that you've always been looking for.

The sheer infinite variety of old, weird and amazing stuff available only on VHS will never be surpassed, and here at Amoeba, we have a jaw-dropping, lovingly tended wall of videos for hours of browsing.  Our tapes are always clean and often in mint condition.  You'll find concerts, cult films, classics, kids movies, and of course, lots of '80s weirdness, almost all of it under 5 bucks, and tons for just $1.  It's the easiest way to scarf up a bunch of great popcorn fare, and some wonderful stuff you'll never see on DVD.  Don't neglect the clunky black tape -- there is movie history there by the reel, and you'll find it at Amoeba!
