Amoeba San Francisco - August 23rd @ 2:00pm
SF's own The Frail play a live set at Amoeba SF in celebration of their first full-length album LoveDeathLegend (out 8/26 on Kobalt). Defying traditional genre classification, the group's electro-tinged cuts toe the line between a falsetto homage to Michael Jackson and the hyper-literate electro experimentation of DFA acts like LCD Soundsystem.
The album was recorded at San Francisco's Different Fur Studios with producer Patrick Brown (Morning Benders, So Many Wizards) and resulted in a polished and thoughtful collection of songs. LoveDeathLegend has the upbeat, electro-indie feel that The Frail has become known for, but there is an underlying darker theme to the songs. Singer Daniel Lannon says, "When we started working on LoveDeathLegend I had recently lost a few friends. I locked myself in the studio with Patrick Brown and we wanted to do justice musically to all of these friends going through hard times."
Also catch them at Bottom of the Hill on August 29th.
