Bon Iver is Eau Claire, Wisconsin's own Justin Vernon, who creates quietly mesmerizing acoustic dream-journeys that evoke the chilly spacious silence of winter in the woods (Bon Iver is derived from bon hiver, French for "good winter"). Like Iron & Wine, Vernon paints surprisingly complete pictures with just his voice, guitar and the occasional percussion backup.
