Fear not, Twihards! Edward and Bella may have fled the silver screen, but a new tale is unfolding, full of supernatural cuties, mortal dorks and more Southern drama than you can shake a crucifix at. An adaptation of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's fiendishly popular Beautiful Creatures book series is sweeping into theaters, with Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson and Viola Davis flinging necromantic plot twists at those tempestuous teens. Will teen witch Lena choose the Light or the Dark as the time of the Claiming (OK, her 16th birthday) approaches? Director Richard LaGravenese tapped an unlikely but effective source for his film's score: Los Angeles electropop band thenewno2, led by Beatle scion Dhani Harrison. The band rose to the challenge and delivered a fine set of mood pieces, from somber to swirling, full of eerie resonance and midnight madness. They call the results "swamptronica," which may or may not be a real word but which effectively captures the murky, swooning results. Like the protagonists, this soundtrack really casts a spell!
