Gil Cerezo is the lead singer for Kinky, an electronic band from Monterrey, Mexico known for experimenting with sounds by combining Latin, rock, and electronic elements, and creating infectious dance music. The band, which includes Carlos Chairez (lead guitar), Cesar Pliego (bass), Omar Gongora (drums), and Ulises Lozano (keyboards), formed in 1998 and released their first album, Kinky (Nettwerk), in 2002. They have released three additional albums, including their latest, Barracuda (Nettwerk, 2008). Kinky has traditionally produced their own albums, but collaborated with the Beastie Boys' Money Mark and DJ Chico Sonido on Barracuda.The band has been nominated multiple times from both the Latin Grammy Recording Academy and the Latin MTV Video Music Awards (including a 2008 nomination for Best Alternative Group). Kinky has also toured with The Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Cake, and De La Soul, and played festivals such as Coachella, Voodoo Music Experience, and Central Park Summer Stage.
