Afrika Bambaataa is widely considered to be the Godfather of Hip Hop. He is a pioneer in break-beat DJing and he launched an entire style of music called "electro funk" with one song. In 1982, Bambaataa released "Planet Rock," which became one of the most influential songs in hip hop. Based around Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express," "Planet Rock" combined electronics and hip hop for the first time. Bambaataa also is known as the founder of the Zulu Nation, a collective of artists and musicians dedicated to promoting the values of hip hop: peace, unity, love, and having fun.
