The Art Of Forgetting [Neon Green Vinyl] (LP)
Caroline Rose
Amoeba Review
Caroline Rose's The Art Of Forgetting is a moving examination of memory, especially the things you wish you could forget, but cannot. With heavenly strings, psychedelic guitar, and dreamy piano, the melodies feel otherworldly while the lyrics are unabashedly grounded in the very real pain of the human experience. "You've gotta get through this life somehow," Rose sings on "Miami," their voice half-pleading, half-defiant. On "Love/Lover/Friend," they seem to be singing from deep underwater, in a tone that sounds both bereaved and beautiful but ultimately resilient. The Art of Forgetting is a wonderful showcase for Rose's impressive abilities as a songwriter, storyteller, and spinner of straw into gold.
