Strange Talk - Biography
Strange Talk are an Australian synth pop band from Melbourne, featuring producer/DJ/bassist Gerard Sidhu, vocalist Stephen Docker, drummer Travis Constable and guitarist/keyboardist Gillan Gregory. Sidhu and Docker originally met on Myspace and began working together as a duo. In 2011, they released their self-titled EP through Sony Music in Australia and Neon Gold Records in the US. The EP, which included the single "Climbing Walls," reached number 1 on Billboard's Uncharted chart in September 2011. The band encamped outside of Melbourne to record and produce their debut full-length, Cast Away (Sony Music Australia). Cast Away was released in Australia on February 8, 2013 and charted at number fifty-six on the Australian Albums Chart. They have toured Australia and the US, opening for The Rapture, Neon Indian, Marina and the Diamonds, and Pink, among others. In fact it was during a performance at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York that the band met an A&R rep from Wind-up Records, with whom they ended up signing. Cast Away is due out on Wind-up Records in the US at the beginning of 2014.
