Renegade (CD)
Thin Lizzy
Amoeba Review
Frankie Delmane 11/01/2010
This record firmly establishes the Thin Lizzy - post drug addicted Phil Lynott, seemingly vowing to keep up with the kids and go for a heavier, more metallic sound. With new super star flash guitar boy Snowy White, the band entered a much larger sound, which doesn't necessarily ruin much since they have always been on the harder side of things, but the material wanders a bit. Both "Angel Of Death" and the title track “Meander”, and even Lynott's soulful tales and gypsy lust, can't save them from their drift. In contrast, "Nobody Told Him" is a stone cold Lizzy classic, jumping out above the other songs, recalling those romantic rocker days of yore we so fell for on Jailbreak and Black Rose. "Mexican Blood" and "Hollywood" do just about the same thing, but none of them can truly save this rather standard issued product.
