The California General Election is coming up fast on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 and it’s more important than ever to make sure we’re registered to vote and to encourage our friends and family to register too. To be eligible to vote on March 5, your registration must be postmarked or submitted electronically no later than February 20, 2024. Registering to vote online is super easy and takes just a few moments.

You may think you're already registered, but it's a good idea to double check. If you've moved recently and your DMV record has an old address, or if you do not have an in-state ID, or you have changed your name you must register to vote. Check your registration status online here.

There are many important races on the March 5th ballot, including California Governor, Lieutenant Governor, U.S. Senate, U.S. Representatives, Secretary of State, Attorney General, and multiple propositions.

All active registered voters in California will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the March 5, 2024 Primary Election. Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before March 5 and received by March 12, 2024; ballots returned at a secure ballot drop box must be deposited by 8:00 p.m. on March 5, 2024.

To help keep things safe for voters and election workers, consider voting early (many locations will be open for at least 4 days beginning the Saturday before Election Day) or skipping the line by dropping off a completed ballot at a secure ballot drop box or voting location. Find early voting and vote-by-mail drop off locations here.
