Amoeba Hollywood - June 19th @ 6:00pm
Shafiq Husayn - multi-platinum producer, artist, Grammy Award Winning performer, songwriter and founding member of the SA-RA Creative Partners - celebrates the vinyl release of his critically-lauded album The Loop with a live set and LP signing at Amoeba Hollywood Wednesday, June 19 at 6pm.
“...an insight into Shafiq’s palette: his deep embrace of updating Black musical tradition, of the Los Angeles community and its spiritualist aesthetics — the album’s guest-list is a “who’s who” of the city’s contemporary post-genre musical scene — and of trying to find a 2019 meaning to the term “psychedelic soul.” From this evidence, The Loop succeeds gloriously.” - Afropunk
Shafiq Husayn is back with The Loop, the long-awaited follow-up to Shafiq En' A-Free-Ka. Blending lush live instrumentation with futuristic synths and otherworldly vocals, The Loop is a genre-defying opus incorporating spaced-out funk, raw neo-soul, free jazz, hip-hop beats, and electronic elements.
