REVOLUTIONS: Saturday Night Soul Party
Amoeba San Francisco - October 13th @ 1:00pm
This month, Amoeba SF's REVOLUTIONS DJ series features the DJs behind the decks of San Francisco's longest running soul party, the eloquently dubbed Saturday Night Soul Party! The SNSP guys have been holding it down for soul music on 45s for 15 years. If you wanna move, they've got the groove. They will be playing records out of their deep, deep crates on the Amoeba SF stage from 1pm to 3pm, Saturday, October 13th. If you can't get enough, you can also catch them later that night at their current home, The Elbo Room!
Saturday Night Soul Party is one of San Francisco's longest running soul-centric parties spanning the golden era of soul music from the early 1960s to the early 1970s. DJ's Lucky, Special Lord B & Phengren Oswald drop heavy vibes and spin solid sides coming down fro 2,000 lbs of sound!
Originally founded as the Sunday Night Soul Party way back in 2003, the SNSP worked it's way down the lane from the humblest of beginnings at the now defunct Big Foot Lodge down to its rightful home in SF's Mission District with a following of true believers causing near riots at the Casanova Lounge in a soul-static frenzy.
Finally settling at the esteemed and legendary Elbo Room in late 2005, the SNSP has been packing the house and knocking them dead twice monthly for 13 years! Not ones to play by the rule books, the three disc-slangers slice and dice classic Stax, Motown, and Atlantic sides with those ultra rare deep cuts you hear about on the news. Pepper that stew with a few R&B shakers, mod freak beaters, and rocksteady rhythm blasters for an all inclusive soul experience.
