12 noon: Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards celebrates Record Store Day with a special DJ set of her favorite tracks. Tune-Yards’ new album, I can feel you creep into my private life, is out now on 4AD Records.
2pm: Yuno (Live Set)
Introduced to the Sub Pop label by Ishmael Butler of Shabazz Palaces and Digable Planets fame, 27-year-old Yuno’s pedigree is diverse. His parents are from the UK and of Jamaican descent, and his musical upbringing involved a wide array of discovery, mainly as a result of being part of his local skateboarding subculture. He creates his music in his home studio, self-producing, and engineering, playing all the instruments. Also, he shoots all of his press photos, designs his album art, and directs his music videos.
3pm: Amoeba alumni, Bay Area resident, and musical selector Jonah Nice has played in bars and clubs across the Bay for many years. His selections feature multiple danceable styles of music ranging from soul, afro-beat, dancehall, salsa, and more.
4pm: DJ Inti lives in Oakland. Family man, record man, music man, builder in metals man, man oh man.
5pm: A 24-year veteran of the music industry, Platurn has traveled the world many times over bringing phenomenal music to multiple corners of the globe. With a client list that includes Red Bull, Toyota, Pandora, Adidas, Pixar, Monster Cable, MTV, Rane, and and the Golden State Warriors to name just a few, he’s built a reputation as a tastemaker with vision and a sense of community and in turn preserving crucial aspects of DJ and music culture. He founded the Oakland Faders in 2000 with partner DJ Spair and the revered 45 Sessions back in 2010, the preeminent outlet for 7” culture on the West Coast of the United States.
