Established in 1995, Voz de America has had the privilege of entertaining audiences both locally and internationally. They have accompanied a number of world famous recording artists and have appeared on most of the local radio and television stations. They represented the City of Los Angeles in the 4th Annual Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1997, then again in 2002 and 2003 when they shared the stage at the famous Teatro Degollado with Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan. MVDA established themselves as one of the top international groups at the event. They were chosen to be the representatives of Mexican Art and Folklore Culture in a six week tour throughout France in 1998, the year they recorded their first CD. In 2001, the group recorded 'La Bikina' at Capitol records for use during the filming of the movie entitled "Bandits" starring Bruce Willis and Billy Bob Thornton, released in the fall of 2001. The group was given a brief appearance in the movie. In 2002, they collaborated on two CDs with soloists Juanita Ulloa and Susie Glaze. Also in 2002, they were invited to perform at the first Latin Grammy Nominee Celebration at The Conga Room in Los Angeles. In 2004, they made an appearance in the filming of a Lifetime Television Documentary entitled "The I Do Diaries" which aired on The Lifetime Cable Channel nationwide later that year. In December of 2004, they made a live appearance on KCET's Holiday Celebration program at Los Angeles' Music Center. MVDA recently performed for Blink 182 at a private tour kick-off party where they performed mariachi interpretations of Blink 182 songs. Footage of the performance was viewed internationally on You Tube. They are currently working on their second CD, projected for release by the end of 2011. In August 2010, Voz de America recorded music and appeared in the filming of an HBO movie entitled 'Cinema Verite', starring Tim Robbins, Diane Lane, and James Gandolfini and aired in HBO Films on April 23rd, 2011. Voz de America has recently made several live appearances on the new TV show Lanzate on Telefutura 46 in Los Angeles where they have accompanied Jenny Rivera, Paquita La Del Barrio, and Shaila Durcal.
