Leftovers [Opaque Yellow Vinyl] (LP)
Le Ren
Amoeba Review
Singer/songwriter Lauren Spear makes her debut as Le Ren with Leftovers, an album steeped in that classic early 2000s indie folk sound. “Dyan,” an ode to her mother, is a sweet acoustic tune reminiscent of obvious influences like Carly Simon. “I Already Love You” is a gentle ballad with Spear’s vocals taking on an airier feel instead of the slight twang she sings with elsewhere. With tracks like “May Hard Times Pass Us By” evoking Sufjan Stevens’ sweeter numbers, this is the perfect album for a sleepy morning or a rainy afternoon.
