Kurt Braunohler - Biography
Kurt Braunohler is an American comedian who Variety named one of their “Top 10 Comics to Watch,” Time Out NY put him on their list of “50 Funniest New Yorkers,” and both Comedy Central and the New York Comedy Festival called him a “Comic to Watch.” Braunohler's debut comedy album, How Do I Land, was released on August 20, 2013 on Kill Rock Stars.
Braunohler began performing in improv groups in the early 2000s. His groups were voted "Best Hilarious Insane Guerilla Theatre" by the Village Voice in 2002 and "Improv Ensemble of the Year" by the Chicago Improv Festival in 2004. In 2005, he and comedian Kristen Schaal began hosting the Hot Tub Variety Show in New York, and they still host it bimonthly in Los Angeles. The duo also created a web series, Penelope: Princess of Pets.
He has appeared on television including Chelsea Lately, John Oliver’s NY Stand Up Show, multiple shows on Adult Swim and Comedy Central, and MTV. He has also been featured on the radio on This American Life and Radiolab, has hosted an anti-game show called BUNK! on IFC, and currently hosts a multi-format podcast on Nerdist called The K Ohle. He has performed at comedy festivals around the world including the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival, the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and Chicago, the New York Comedy Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, SXSW, Bonaroo, All Tomorrow’s Parties, the HBO Vegas Comedy Festival, and the Melbourne Comedy Festival where we he won the Barry Award for most outstanding comedy act.
