The other half of My Morning Jacket's The Waterfall from 2015, The Waterfall II is a comforting return to the Stinson Beach and Muir Woods-inspired sound from that recording session. The opener "Spinning My Wheels" and closing track "The First Time" revel in that hazy, dreamy soundscape. "Still Thinkin'" is an unabashedly '60s-styled foot-tapper and "Climbing The Ladder," like some of the spliced-together tracks on The Waterfall, is an intriguing hybrid of country steel guitar and a busy, almost disco beat. MMJ fans will not be disappointed.
