It’s a star-studded foray into the Americana meets indie territory the artists do so well, with Dessner and Vernon sharing vocal duties with collaborators like Fleet Foxes, Anais Mitchell, Lisa Hannigan, Sharon Van Etten, Shara Nova and Taylor Swift. Steeped in emotion and richly atmospheric, this is a supergroup album that doesn’t skate by simply on name recognition. Every artist involved gives it their all, whether they’re going for the moodier folk stylings of Fleet Foxes and Anais Mitchell’s “Phoenix” or the poppy authenticity of Taylor Swift’s “Renegade.” This is an album where you can tell the cast of musicians truly vibes together and is excited about what they’re creating.
