Damned Damned Damned (CD)
The Damned
Amoeba Review
Tiffany Anders 06/03/2010
The Damned’s debut is by far one of the best punk albums to be released in 1977. Damned Damned Damned is a concise thirty minutes of raucous gems that truly embody the punk rock movement, from the opening track “Neat Neat Neat,” to their most well known and brilliant “New Rose.” Using a simple power chord structure, coupled with a fierce pace and plenty of attitude, all of the songs on this release make you want to jump up and down. While most of the songs were written by guitarist Brian James, the album closes with a cover of The Stooges “I Feel Alright,” which is not quite as polished as the original yet captures the spirit of the tune. Damned Damned Damned is a quintessential punk album and an absolute must have for fans of the genre.
